Why You Might Be Able to Get a Great Deal on a New Mercedes-AMG

Performance models aren't just more expensive, they're often harder to score a deal on. Opt for the hottest trim and you'll find that the lease deals, bonus cash, and zero-interest finance opportunities all dry up. AMG models are usually part of this, but a new dealer incentive scheme may work in your favor at the dealership.

Mercedes is offering dealers bonuses this month based on how many AMG models they sell. As CarsDirect spells out, Mercedes dealers that meet their monthly sales goals will get an extra $750 per AMG sold. If they exceed 110 percent of their sales goal, they can get $1500 per AMG sold. Don't be surprised, then, if the salesman showing you a base Mercedes starts pushing the upgrade.

Make no mistake, this isn't a customer cash event. That $750 or $1500 is a reward for the dealer, not an incentive for the customer. But since dealers have a shot at making $1500 on every AMG sale, they're likely to be more willing to negotiate. Sure, you might not save the whole sum, but act like you're willing to jump from a non-AMG to an AMG and you might be able to get $1000 or so extra off the price. That's in addition to whatever deal you'd normally strike, so if you walked away from a deal on an AMG a couple of weeks ago it might be worth another phone call. They might have found another $1500 of wiggle room.
