Normally we wouldn’t think a police chase where the suspect is driving an SN95 Mustang would be all that exciting. If you’re mad reading that, well you need to go drive some other cars, because everyone else know why we say that. However, this chase where local police called in Georgia State Patrol to end it comes with an extra bit of zest.

Color gatekeeping is coming to the Mustang GTD.

For the first while, the chase is just pretty standard. Some guy in his pony car won’t pull over and he tries swerving around, pushing his vehicle as hard as it will go, and honestly it’s kind of hilarious how pathetic that is.

Part of that is obviously how hands-off the local authorities are being. They have their pursuit policies and such, so that makes for some pretty boring dashcam footage for all of us on the internets.

However, once the footage switches over to a trooper’s cruiser, things start to get spicy. The trooper comes in hot and hard, like a leopard in heat, and the suspect immediately reacts with more aggressive maneuvering.

Unsurprisingly, that doesn’t even phase the trooper. He’s trained on more aggressive maneuvering and has probably dealt with more challenging suspects fleeing at higher speeds.

Still, it takes some dancing between the two as the trooper sets up to do a PIT and the suspect gets all wiggly or aggressive before things line up just so. One could liken it to a bull and matador in the arena, or maybe two gladiators.

But through a game of chicken at a turn, the suspect and trooper run off the road, then the trooper PITs the Mustang into some trees.

There’s just something about Mustangs and trees, including trees which have been turned into utility or light poles. It’s almost like the pony cars are magnetically attracted to them.
