2025 Porsche Macan EV Adds RWD Base Model, Sportier 4S Trim
Porsche announced two new variants of the electric Macan that will arrive by the end of this year.
The base rear-wheel-drive Macan EV makes up to 355 horsepower and starts at $77,295.
The Macan 4S produces a maximum of 509 horsepower and costs $86,895.
When Porsche revealed the all-electric version of its popular compact crossover at the beginning of this year, the Macan EV came in just two variants: the 402-hp Macan 4 and the high-performance 630-hp Macan Turbo. But now Porsche is augmenting the lineup with two new versions: a new rear-wheel-drive base model and a potent Macan 4S which slots in between the Macan 4 and Macan Turbo.
New Powertrains
The new entry-level model utilizes the same battery with a 95.0-kWh usable capacity but now feeds just a single motor on the rear axle. It is the same rear motor found on the all-wheel-drive Macan 4, and it produces 335 horsepower. When using launch control, however, an overboost function pushes the output to 355 ponies, while torque maxes out at 415 pound-feet. Porsche says this base model will zip to 60 mph in 5.4 seconds before topping out at 136 mph. Since the front wheels aren't powered, the rear-wheel-drive Macan EV weighs 243 pounds less than the Macan 4.
The Macan 4S, meanwhile, gets a new rear-mounted motor paired with the same front-axle motor as on the Macan 4 and Turbo. All told, the 4S pumps out 442 horsepower, with a brief boost taking it to 509 hp. Launch control allows for a maximum of 578 pound-feet of torque. Porsche says the 4S will sprint to 60 mph in 3.9 ticks, and the top speed is listed at 149 mph.
Both the rear-wheel-drive Macan and the 4S feature standard adaptive air suspension and adaptive dampers via the Porsche Active Suspension Management system. Rear-wheel steering is optional on both, while the 4S can also be specced with Porsche's torque vectoring system.
Fresh Design Options
Porsche also announced some new design choices that customers of the Macan EV will be able to make when the SUV arrives later this year. A new color, Slate Grey Neo, is available across the board, and a new 20-inch wheel design has been added.
Porsche also created a new off-road design package that is available on all electric Macans. The bumper gets restyled to improve the approach angle to 17.5 degrees, and in the standard air suspension setting, the package jacks up the ground clearance by an extra four-tenths of an inch. The front bumper, side skirts, diffuser panels, and roof railings are either painted Vesuvius Grey or the car's body color. A set of 21-inch off-road wheels in the same gray hue are offered.
Both new variants can be ordered now. Porsche is targeting deliveries in the fourth quarter of this year. The entry-level 2025 Macan will start at $77,295—about $3000 less than the Macan 4—while the Macan 4S will go for $86,895.
