2025 Porsche Macan EV Adds a Rear-Drive Entry Point
The 2025 Porsche Macan EV adds an entry-level rear-wheel-drive version that will start at $77,295.
Porsche also adds the 2025 Macan 4S to the lineup, which cranks up output to 509 hp.
Porsche says these two new Macan EV models will head to dealers in the fourth quarter of 2024.
Porsche is expanding its battery-electric Macan offerings for 2025. The company is adding a rear-drive-only model and cranking up the output with a 4S variant. Porsche says both of these new electric Macan models are scheduled to hit dealers in the fourth quarter of 2024.
The rear-wheel-drive Macan EV uses the same rear electric motor as the Macan 4 but eschews the front drive motor. Feeding this electric motor is the same 100-kWh battery pack as the Macan 4. Porsche says this rear-motor-only Macan can send 250 kW, or 335 hp, to the rear wheels. However, that figure cranks up to 265 kW, or 355 hp when using the Macan’s launch mode, which helps spring this Macan to 60 mph in 5.4 seconds.
Porsche is also launching the Macan 4S, which replaces the rear motor with a more powerful unit and adds a 600-amp silicon-carbide inverter into the mix. The front motor is the same as the Macan 4, but the Macan 4S still packs 509 hp during its launch control mode, and 442 hp during standard operation. That’s an extra 107 hp over the Macan 4 during launch mode.
The extra power helps shuffle the Macan 4S to 60 mph from a standing start in 3.9 seconds, which is a full second off the standard Macan 4. Top speed is up too, and now cuts out at 149 mph if you can find the space. Still, if you want peak power, the Macan Turbo is your answer, which bests the Macan 4S to 60 by 0.8 seconds and offers 630 hp in launch mode.
Alongside the more power, the Macan 4S comes with an adaptive air suspension and the Porsche Active Suspension Management as standard equipment. Optional rear steering and Porsche Torque Vectoring could help you squeeze even more out of this chassis if you’re so inclined.
On the inside, Porsche sticks with the current Macan EV’s interior. That means you’ll have a 12.6-inch curved driver display alongside a 10.9-inch center screen and an optional 10.9-inch passenger display. There’s also a head-up display with augmented reality.
If you’ve been waiting for a more affordable Macan, well, Porsche says this rear-drive Macan will start at $77,295. That’s $3,155 less than the 2024 Porsche Macan 4. The Macan 4S will set you back $86,895, which is $6,445 more expensive than the Macan 4. Both of these new Macan EV models are scheduled to hit your local Porsche dealer in the fourth quarter of 2024.
