Crazy Car Accident Caused By A Cop

Despite what some people think, police officers are human beings and sometimes they screw up. The difference is when a cop drops the ball when he’s on the job, people can get hurt or even killed, like how it is for nurses or firefighters. But in this case it was an off-duty officer who caused a four-car accident and for a stupid reason.
Watch a trooper PIT the wrong car.
The bodycam footage starts with the on-duty officer, who’s at the head of the three stopped vehicles which were plowed into by a fourth, announcing over the radio he was just in an accident. As he gets out we see how unbelievably bad the aftermath is.
One car is pushed onto the roof of another, with the bottom one showing significant rearend damage. An older man and a teenager seem dazed as they walk away from the wreckage, and who can blame them?
The off-duty cop immediately admits to the on-duty officer that he “couldn’t stop” and was the one who caused the accident. Considering his Ford Edge was at the back of the pileup and the other cars were all stopped, it’s pretty obvious he was at fault.
Ultimately, the off-duty officer, Daniel Griffiths, was cited for distracted driving and some other violations. Let this be a testament that nothing on your phone or infotainment screen is more important than paying attention to your surroundings while you’re behind the wheel.
We know on-duty, cops are often distracted with their radio, computer, and other equipment. Some technological solutions coming down the pipeline promise potential solutions to this problem, and it is one. Regardless, we wonder if the off-duty officer thought he was fine because he’s just so used to doing other things while driving.
