Fatal Dodge Charger Crash Claims One Life

The passenger in a speeding Dodge Charger is dead and the driver clings to life after wrecking out in an industrial area of Tucson, Arizona. Surveillance footage from a nearby business of the crash, which we’ve included, shows how fiery and quickly it happened.

Watch a Camaro break 170 mph running from police.

It was in the early morning hours of July 23 when 26-year-old Nicole Gutierrez and the driver of the Mopar muscle car were ejected during the high-speed wreck. Sadly, Gutierrez didn’t survive and the unnamed driver is in the hospital with life-threatening injuries.

According to Pima County Sheriff’s Department, the speeding Charger driver lost control in a curve on Aviation Parkway near Alvernon Way. The muscle car hit a concrete barrier, some road signs, then a light pole before finally striking a building.

Usually when people are thrown from a vehicle in a crash that indicates they weren’t wearing a seatbelt. If that’s the case here, it was a sadly avoidable fate for the driver and passenger.

One man who works in the area where the crash happened spoke with local station KOLD about the incident. He admitted the stretch of road often sees speeders zipping through, but said he “thought they were drag racing” because the Charger was going so fast.

If so, we don’t see another car in the surveillance footage. That doesn’t mean this wasn’t a street racing situation, only that we don’t see any evidence it was.

Whatever the reason for going so fast, one woman paid with her life and the driver might do the same. We can’t think of any thrill or whatever that’s worth such a steep price. Owning a powerful vehicle is something you need to treat with respect since it’s easy to get into big trouble quickly.
