Who’s At Fault In This Cadillac CTS And C8 Corvette Crash?

Nobody is a perfect driver, at least not all the time. Even professional racecar drivers, the elite in the world, make mistakes. That’s partly what also makes us human, although sometimes those flaws result in horrendous accidents. Thankfully the collision between a white Cadillac CTS and a silver C8 Corvette wasn’t that bad, but it could have been.
Watch a guy wreck out in his Ferrari F430.
Dashcam footage shared by Reddit user keeklezors in r/IdiotsInCars shows what thankfully turned into a minor collision between the two cars. The Cadillac was on a side street in Friendswood, Texas waiting to turn right onto a four-lane road with a hard median.
The CTS driver saw what he thought to be an opening, turning not into the right or closest lane, but instead going for the left lane. What he failed to see was the mid-engine American sports car, perhaps in part because of the large SUV turning left from the opposing lanes of traffic onto the other road.
We know from experience when you drive a smaller, low-to-the-ground sports car you’re almost as invisible as a motorcyclist. Cars, especially full-size trucks and SUVs, don’t see you pretty much all the time. You have to drive aggressively defensive in such a vehicle, always ready for people to cut you off, etc.
That said, we think the C8 Corvette driver did a fairly good job of turning what could have been a bad accident into one that still will likely be expensive. He hit the brakes and veered to the left, driving onto the median with his driver’s-side tires, only bumping the driver’s side of the Caddie some.
Sure, some paint was swapped, some panels perhaps dented, and maybe there’s suspension damage on the Corvette, but it could have been so much worse.
Now the big question we have for you is who’s at fault in this accident? Tell us what you think.
