In a scene straight of out Hollywood, California a man driving a GMC Sierra went the wrong way on the 101 Freeway, hitting almost two dozen cars while fleeing from police. This is the sort of thing you usually only see in movies because it requires magic for any vehicle to take that many hits and keep going.
Ever wondered what a gas station explosion looks like? See one here.
The suspect exited the freeway and kept hitting more cars before the truck gave out from catastrophic damage to the front chassis and who knows what else. Why anyone who’s running from police would think ramming so many other vehicles is a good strategy is beyond us, because it absolutely isn’t.
One witness to the carnage told KTLA 5 the suspect was ramming cars to make people move out of the way so he could escape police as they pursued. We know traffic in Los Angeles County can be brutal, but that seems like an extreme way to get through it, not that we haven’t fantasized about it ourselves.
Still, to actually ram your vehicle against almost two dozen cars as a way to escape, you either have to be completely unhinged or on something.
KTLA 5 says the GMC driver ultimately “stumbled” out of the pickup and was arrested on suspicion of DUI. When the guy sobered up, can you imagine his reaction after learning what he did? The insurance claims alone are going to bury him, not to mention criminal charges, etc.
Drunk driving is never a wise choice. Everyone always things after a few drinks they’re fine, even though their motor skills, reaction time, and thinking are all diminished. This guy probably thought he was good to go, but the only place he ended up was jail. And he trashed his truck.
