Here's How Much Porsche's New Base Macan EV Costs
When Porsche revealed the Macan EV six months ago, the company chose only to show the top-line Turbo and low-mid range 4. On Tuesday, the brand filled out the Macan lineup with two more reveals: The single-motor base Macan and the 4S, a two-motor variant that slots between the 4 and the Turbo.
The base Macan is a more affordable option than its all-wheel drive siblings, although it remains much more expensive than the outgoing gas-powered Macan. A rear-wheel drive Macan starts at $75,300 before a $1995 delivery fee, a substantial step up from the $62,900 MSRP attached to the base model of the first-generation car still in the long process of being phased out. The base EV is also more expensive than the $74,500 MSRP attached to the faster gas-powered Macan S, although it comes in well below the range-topping $89,000 Macan GTS.
That $75,300 gets a buyer 335 hp from a single-motor setup powering only the rear wheels, although power peaks at 355 hp when a launch control system is engaged. The car reaches 60 in 5.4 seconds and tops out at 136 mph, respectively 0.6 seconds faster and 8 mph slower than official Porsche numbers for the base gas-powered Macan. A 100-kWh battery, an efficiency-boosting 480-amp pulse inverter, and a 243-lb weight saving from the reduced drive wheel count should make the base car a standout in total range, but Porsche has not yet announced an estimated driving range for the car.
The new 4S spec, which sits above the 4 but below the Turbo, starts only $6100 above the 4 at $84,900. That model gets 442 hp and a peak output of 501 hp with launch control, good for a 0-60 sprint of 3.9 seconds and a top speed of 149 mph. The 4S also gets Porsche's adaptive PASM air suspension standard. It can also be equipped with optional torque vectoring and rear-wheel steering.
All Macans are now also available with an optional off-road package, which comes with a specific off-road bumper and a base ride height raised by 10 mm to 7.6 inches. The highest setting is now 8.8 inches, a number that works alongside the new bumper design to raise the Macan's peak approach angle to 17.5 degrees. The kit can be ordered either in body color or in a contrasting gray.
Other optional additions include a new 20-inch wheel option, a 21 inch off-road wheel option, and a new shade of slate grey. All of those are available for the 4 and Turbo in addition to the upcoming base and 4S variants. The new options and variants are expected to reach dealers by the end of the year.
