A white sixth gen Camaro was found in the Red River near Natchitoches, Louisiana on Sunday, October 13 by a fisherman. The initial concern was that someone had been trapped inside the submerged muscle car, but divers from the sheriff’s office determined it was empty. We’ve seen this sort of thing far too many times, leading us to believe this is almost certainly a stolen car dumped by the thieves.

Harley rider with a death wish pushes his bike past 110 mph running from police.

When we cover stolen cars found in rivers, lakes, and other bodies of water they’re usually old and so badly deteriorated they basically disintegrate when removed by law enforcement. But this sixth gen Camaro was obviously in the water little time, perhaps driven into the Red River that same day or only a day or two before.

It’s worth noting the front end is destroyed and there’s crash damage on the roof as well as the passenger side. There might be more, that’s just what we could see in photos released by the Natchitoches Parish Sheriff’s Office.

All that damage might have been done in the process of driving/rolling the Chevy muscle car into the water. But it’s also possible the vehicle was crashed, then disposed, perhaps because it had been wrecked.

We’re sure investigators are looking at that. The Natchitoches Parish Sheriff’s Office said the VIN was being run to see if there was a report of the Camaro being stolen, which we’d be shocked if there isn’t.

Many times, vehicles like this are taken to be used in other crimes like armed robberies, shoplifting, drive-by shootings, or street takeovers. Stolen cars are often driven or pushed into bodies of water to hide evidence and to hide the vehicle, although in this case it seems this one was found rapidly.
