If you’ve been thinking Canadians are all way too nice, it’s time to drop that stereotype. The road rage epidemic that’s been on the rise in the US is also taking hold with our neighbor to the north. One of the latest cases comes out of North Vancouver where a guy in a Tesla Model 3 allegedly hit a senior citizen in the face with a baton, knocking out several of the man’s teeth.

North Vancouver Royal Canadian Mounted Police shared two grainy images of the EV driven by the suspect, stating that it’s believed to be black. The assault happened on August 12 at around 4 pm at the 1400 block of Rupert Street.
According to the victim, the Tesla driver was tailgating him, so he made a motion with his hands for the other guy to slow down. Apparently, the younger man took offense at that, because when the elderly driver pulled over the guy got out of his Tesla and marched over with a baton in hand.
Instead of exchanging words, the Tesla driver reportedly hit the elderly victim in the face repeatedly. He sustained “significant injuries” including the loss of several teeth. That’s a severe response to someone using any hand gesture, rude or not.
After the assault, the aggressor reportedly fled north on Harbour Avenue. He’s described as a “heavy set South Asian man in his 30s.” The black Tesla Model 3 reportedly has black wheels and red brake calipers.
Authorities are asking for surveillance footage or dashcam video from anyone who might have been in the area.
Even if someone does something offensive or dangerous on the road, getting out of your vehicle and assaulting them isn’t the way to deal with the situation. These road rage incidents need to be curbed.
