There’s nothing quite like driving a high-powered muscle car, but some people can’t seem to exercise a modicum of restraint. That certainly seems to be the case for Tramayne Harris who walked away from federal custody, somehow got into a Hellcat, and hit a mother driving her six children at 90 mph. This is the kind of story which makes us sick.
Watch a Florida trooper get pitted by a suspect he was chasing.
This went down in a residential area of Indianapolis, Indiana where the speed limit is 30 mph, reports IndyStar. Harris flew into an intersection going about triple the speed limit and hit the Ford Explorer so hard at least one of the children was thrown from the SUV and declared dead at the scene.
By some miracle, that little boy was revived but is on life support and remains unconscious with a traumatic brain injury. Another child suffered “devastating” internal trauma and was also unconscious at the hospital. A third child had severe fractures but is expected to recover, while the other three and the mother were all in stable condition.
According to prosecutors, Harris doesn’t even have a driver’s license but instead had a learner’s permit but no license driver in the vehicle with him. Witnesses described the Hellcat as not only speeding but driving recklessly, crossing he double yellow line in the median and swerving around other cars before the crash.
Harris had been in federal prison after pleading guilty back in 2021 for distributing marijuana and carrying a gun while trafficking drugs. At some point he was put on probation and was supposed to be in a halfway house but apparently just walked away.
Now Harris is in big trouble with 13 charges against him, although not all are serious. The big question many are asking is why he was even on the street. That’s something which needs to be thoroughly explored.
