Tragic Devil’s Slide Crash Kills Three

Three people are dead after a car drove off Highway 1 in California, plunging down a cliff along the coast aptly called Devil’s Slide, around 15 miles south of San Francisco. It’s a tragic accident which has left many wondering how it happened.

Kia owner kills alleged thief.

According to California Highway Patrol, the crash happened just after 11 am on Friday, July 26. The sedan, of which we don’t know the make or model, plunged about 300 to 400 feet into the sea. That terrain made it challenging for crews to recover the bodies, with high tide on Saturday making conditions too dangerous.

The victims of the crash have been identified as 36-year-old Brylyn Aroma of Fort Riley, Kansas, 29-year-old Mohammad Noory, and 28-year-old Angelica Gacho, both of San Francisco, reports USA Today.

Afterwards, the car itself was hoisted up the side of the cliff and towed away. An investigation is now underway to determine what happened in the moments before the sedan left the road.

That area of California Highway 1, also known as the Pacific Coast Highway, is picturesque and popular with both locals and tourists. However, sharp turns and steep cliffs plunging into the ocean also make for a dangerous drive, especially for anyone going to fast or not paying close enough attention.

With the summer vacation season winding down, we know a lot of people are squeezing in that last road trip or day excursion. No matter where you’re going, it’s good to slow down, especially if you don’t know the roads you’re traveling all that well.

Coastlines, mountain canyons, and other areas where the road has many sharp turns can be challenging for drivers. It’s okay to take your time while keeping your eyes focused on what the road ahead is doing.
