Valet Accused Of Stealing Car And Causing A Fatal Crash

We keep seeing stories of valets in different parts of the country stealing cars and going joyriding in them. It’s a real problem, but one case out of Milwaukee involves a valet allegedly stealing a customer’s car, going for a high-speed joyride, then causing a fatal crash.

Rare Camaro destroyed by dealership employee.

It’s one thing to lose your car because someone decided it would be fun to take it for a fast spin. But it’s another thing entirely to have that person kill someone else using your ride. On top of that, the family of the deceased has to process the senseless act.

According to WISN 12, a criminal complaint states the suspect was parking a vehicle as a valet at a hotel in downtown Milwaukee when he took it for a drive around town instead. It wasn’t even a hot ride, just a Toyota Camry, proving you don’t have to own an exotic supercar or muscle car for valets to go hot rodding.

The complaint goes on to state the suspect was traveling down the bus lane when he blasted through two red lights. Eventually, he slammed into a Hyundai Sonata, throwing that car ten feet into the air, ejecting and killing the other driver. If you look at the damage on both vehicles in the WISN footage, it’s a wonder the collision wasn’t a double fatality.

The valet was arrested and his bond was set at $100,000. We’ll see what the ultimate legal outcome of this case will be.

With so many valets stealing vehicles, something needs to change. A lot of people think dropping their car off with supposedly professional people means it will be safe, but just like in Ferris Bueller’s Day Off that’s not always the case.
