With the S650 Generation Ford Mustang about to hit dealers, Vaughn Gittin Jr. and the team over at RTR just pulled the cover off of the 2024 Mustang RTR Spec 2 conversion package. Here’s everything we know about the enhanced GT model.

The RTR Spec 2 package is centered around the S650 Generation Mustang GT, regardless of transmission or performance package selection. The brand didn’t specify any output changes or improved performance metrics at the time of the debut, but that information should become available once cars arrive at dealer lots later this summer. The new Mustang GT comes with a familiar 5.0-liter V-8 provided 480 horsepower and 415 lb-ft. An optional Performance Exhaust brings those figures to 486 hp and 418 lb-ft. What we do know is that Gittin Jr. and crew have completely revised the appearance of the new Mustang, tying in well-established RTR elements in the process. That starts up front with the grille lights, which now feature more visual depth thanks to the concentric stacking of the lights. Inside that light element sits an air intake pathway, similar to what you’ll find on one of SRT's Challenger products. The package also includes RTR upper and lower grilles, a unique hood vent, as well as an RTR chin splitter. The sides of the car are also outfitted with some new equipment, including RTR rocker splitters, rear corner splitters, and RTR Aero 5 wheels wrapped in Nitto NT555 G2 rubber. Out back you’ll find a new decklid spoiler.

Of course RTR isn’t just about improving the style of your pony car, and has also provided some suspension improvements as part of the Spec 2 package. These include revised RTR rear shock mounts, RTR Tactical Performance lower springs and sway bars front and rear, as well as unique adjustable shocks and struts at all four corners. The package helps get the wheels tucked a bit closer to the bodywork than a stock GT, improving the stance while bringing performance benefits. RTR also brings some adjustments to the interior of the Mustang GT by way of a new shift knob, floor mats, and a smattering of RTR badging and plaques.

The RTR Mustang Spec 2 package will be available from the moment that S650 Mustangs hit dealer lots. That’s slated to take place later this summer, so interested pony car fans don’t have long to wait. The conversion rings in at $12,495 plus the cost of your donor Mustang GT, which brings the cheapest Spec 2 model out to $55,585. You can count on more extreme and powerful versions of the new RTR Mustang to arrive before too much longer.
