Watch the 2025 Corvette ZR1 Hit 204 MPH
Chevrolet's latest Corvette, the C8-generation ZR1, is also its fastest. The ultimate GM supercar boasts a headlining 1064 horsepower from a twin-turbocharged 5.5-liter V-8, enough to push the car well over 200 MPH. A video shared with Road & Track by GM shows that the car can roar past that number with relative ease.
This on-board video is from a run at GM's proving grounds. It shows a mile and a half of straight-line running, from a rolling start under 20 mph to a peak speed of 204 mph. The car's twin-turbocharged LT7 motor can be heard running through the gears throughout the run, sounding as ferocious as you might expect.
GPS data in the recording shows that the car hits 190 mph in under a mile, then soars past 204 mph half a mile later. Immense straight-line performance does not just end with acceleration, though. 15.7-inch front and 15.4-inch rear brake rotors help the car decelerate at an equally impressive rate. GM says that the car can go from 80 mph to 200 and back down to 80 in just 24.5 seconds, a number that beats the last generation car by 22 percent and topples the C6-generation ZR1 by a whopping 54 percent.
In an independent top speed test, the last-generation ZR1 was seen hitting a top speed 2 MPH above its listed best. That car had a relatively paltry 755 hp, well below the 1064 hp the latest ZR1 boasts. The C8 ZR1 has an estimated top speed of over 215 mph, but a final number has still not been revealed.
