In quite a few cities across the United States, dirt bikes, ATVs, and other small off-road vehicles are used by kids and adults to sow chaos. Sometimes they just speed around town doing stunts and showing off. Other times they commit armed robberies, then speed away. This dashcam footage from Georgia State Patrol shows how difficult it can be to chase down suspects on these machines.

Watch a Chrysler 300 SRT8 go up against Georgia troopers.

The trooper we’re at first riding along with first spots the three dirt bikes cruising along a two-lane road in Atlanta. They seem to not be speeding and are staying in their lane of traffic. However, they’re not wearing helmets, and it turns out the bikes aren’t registered.

Flipping around, the trooper turns on his lights and sirens. Sure enough, instead of just pulling over and sorting everything out like mature adults, the dirt bikers scatter. One takes to a sidewalk to try getting away, a dumb strategy since it runs parallel to the road and police cars are made to hop curbs.

Another guy sticks just to the road and seems to be the least capable rider of the three. That means he’s singled out by troopers, so we guess if you’re going to ride illegally make sure you bring along a buddy who sucks at riding.

This guy is so bad he sticks his feet out as he goes through turns slowly. We almost expect him to start duck walking the dirt bike at points. And he definitely seems unsure about riding anywhere other than on the smooth pavement of the road.

He of course is caught while his two buddies get away. What could law enforcement do better to catch suspects on these types of vehicles?
