With recent $8k recommissioning work, featuring a 2.5L inline-four engine, Saratoga Top sunroof, and 16″ Fuchs-style wheels.

A pristine example of the classic 1984 Porsche 944 is now available for bidding on Bring a Trailer. Initially delivered to Herman + Miller Porsche-Audi in Parsippany, New Jersey, this car has recently undergone extensive recommissioning work, amounting to approximately $8,000, and now shows just 39,000 miles on the odometer. Finished in iconic Guards Red with black Porsche script cloth upholstery, this 944 offers a blend of vintage charm and reliable performance.

The exterior of this 944 features the timeless Guards Red paint, complemented by pop-up headlights, fog lights, and a rear hatch with a spoiler, heated glass, and a wiper. A Saratoga Top power-tilting removable glass sunroof has been added, enhancing the car's versatility and aesthetic appeal. The windshield and rear hatch struts were replaced in March 2024, ensuring the vehicle is in top condition. The license plate has been relocated to the rear bumper, adding a unique touch.

This Porsche 944 is equipped with 16″ Fuchs-style alloy wheels mounted with Firestone Firehawk Indy 500 tires (205/55 front and 225/50 rear). Bilstein shocks have been installed at each corner, and the car features front and rear stabilizer bars, providing a smooth and controlled ride. Braking is handled by four-wheel power-assisted ventilated discs, offering reliable stopping power.

Inside, the car boasts black leatherette front bucket seats and a rear bench with Porsche script cloth inserts. Amenities include air conditioning, cruise control, power windows, and a Bluetooth-capable Blaupunkt head unit. The cabin also features red Porsche-branded carpeted floor mats and a MOMO steering wheel. While speakers had been installed behind the rear wheel wells in the trunk, they have since been removed, along with an aftermarket alarm system.

The driver is greeted by a three-spoke MOMO steering wheel framing a 170-mph speedometer, a tachometer, and gauges for fuel level, coolant temperature, and fuel economy. The center stack houses an analog clock and an oil pressure gauge. The five-digit odometer reads 39,000 miles, with approximately 80 miles added by the selling dealer. The headlight switch was repaired in March 2024, ensuring all controls function properly.

Powering this 944 is a 2.5-liter M44 inline-four engine featuring Bosch engine management, factory-rated at 143 horsepower and 142 lb-ft of torque. In March 2024, ReconWorks of Wall, New Jersey, performed significant maintenance, including replacing the timing belt, balance shaft belt, and rollers, as well as the fuel pump, water pump, radiator, thermostat, fan switch, battery, and spark plugs. Additionally, the crankshaft position and speed sensors were replaced, along with the hood insulation pad and struts. An oil change was also conducted at that time.

Power is sent to the rear wheels through a five-speed manual transaxle. Both clutch cylinders were replaced in March 2024, ensuring smooth and reliable gear shifts.

A copy of the original window sticker accompanies the car, detailing its initial delivery to Herman + Miller Porsche-Audi, factory colors, equipment, options, and a total price of $22,830. The sale also includes manufacturer’s literature and a record of the recent service, providing comprehensive documentation of the vehicle's history and maintenance.

This 1984 Porsche 944 5-Speed is a well-preserved and meticulously maintained classic, ready for its next enthusiastic owner. Don’t miss the opportunity to own this iconic sports car, available now on Bring a Trailer.
