Amazon delivers its biggest box — with a Nissan inside

From live ladybugs to a one-ton gun safe, Amazon's desire to sell everything under the sun knows few bounds — except for new cars, which thanks to a briar patch of federal and state laws may only be sold in most states by franchised dealers. That didn't stop the company from making a special delivery today of what's likely its largest package yet, albeit with a little marketing help from Nissan.

As part of a promotion for the Nissan Versa Note, Nissan revealed in September that three shoppers who bought their cars through a promotional link on Amazon would get their Versa Notes in one of Amazon's traditional brown boxes, along with a film crew to record the moment for publicity. (The first 100 buyers who clicked on the now-dead promotional link — which directed them to their local Nissan dealer — also got $1,000 Amazon gift cards.)

A Reddit user snapped the pic above of one of the three cars getting its final delivery, something that will likely remain a novelty for many years to come given traditional car dealers' desire to have shoppers in showrooms rather than fully online. It's not clear yet whether any of the buyers managed to get the traditional delivery fee waived by buying an Amazon Prime membership, but I hope they at least get to keep the box -- especially if they don't have a garage already.
