Two Florida grandparents were arrested last week after a police officer spotted them towing a 7-year-old girl in a toy Pontiac Solstice roadster with two dog leashes tied to the back bumper of their sport utility vehicle. When the officer stopped the 10-mph parade, he found the grandfather drunk, a problem that had caused the driver a previous DUI and 10-year suspension of his license. I don't think Hallmark makes a grandparents' day card for this.

According to The Smoking Gun, Paul Berloni, 49, and Belinda Jean Berloni, 47, face one count of felony child endangerment related to the towing of their granddaughter, who was wearing only a swimsuit, while Paul Berloni also faces a fresh DUI count. The Sarasota, Fla., police report indicates Paul Berloni was driving while Belinda Berloni "cheered the child on" from the open rear hatch of the Chevy SUV. Both told police they knew tying a toy car to an SUV's trailer hitch and dragging it around on the streets could be dangerous, but that they had "done it all day."

The girl was not injured, despite the several trips around the block, and her father was upset when he discovered how the pair had entertained her. And while the car -- a battery-powered Solstice made by Dumar International that was sold at stores like Walmart for about $200 -- can hold up to 130 lbs., it wasn't built for towing.
