Introducing the Gurgel: Flickr photo of the day

Only those who've spent time in Brazil may recognize the name above, or have seen the cars they were attached to on the road. Gurgel was an eponymous Brazilian automaker who took basic Volkswagen Beetle chassis, raised the suspension for rough and off-road use, and patented a combination fiberglass/steel body that made the Gurgel Xavante X12 like the one above unearthed by Hugo90 successful in the 1970s and '80s. Lowered trade barriers eventually wiped Gurgel out, but its cars can still be found down south. If you know of a car that needs to be shared,. If you have a photo to share, make sure you add it to the Motoramic group on Flickr, or send us a message via Twitter, Facebook and Google+.
