Watch an L.A. driver destroy a Ferrari 360 by nosediving into a ravine

Just another day on Mulholland Drive

Mulholland Drive snakes around the ridge line of the Santa Monica Mountains and the Hollywood Hills, providing mile after mile of glorious tarmac used as a getaway from the manic lights and smoggy haze below. Bikers and car enthusiasts are notorious for treating the road as L.A's unofficial racetrack, and that leads to plenty of nasty spills  like this Ferrari 360 Modena that found itself flying headfirst of a massive embankment.

YouTuber RNickeyMouse spends most of his time on the twists of Mulholland, capturing crashes as riders/drivers overstep the mark. As of this writing, 176,517 people have subscribed to his channel, proving two things: Firstly, people love to watch crashes. And secondly, we're not as great at driving as we may think we are.

In the case of the Ferrari, it's unclear exactly what happened. The driver was traveling at quite a lick, and my guess would be that he needed the adjacent lane to exit the corner, but after seeing a Toyota Prius in it, the driver pinched the wheel trying to hold the car down, thus losing the back-end. (The tires also appear quite worn.) Either way, the 360 nosedives off the embankment and onto its head, coming to a crunching mess at the bottom in a plume of dust.

Fortunately, the driver of the Ferrari suffered nothing but a few cuts to the head; the passenger walked away entirely unscathed. Both occupants effectively won the lottery that day, although it will require a real winning ticket to repair the trashed car. For L.A.'s speed freaks, this remains merely another day on Mulholland.
