The bad news is that more than 7,700 of those vehicles are being recalled because some of them may suffer from serious suspension problems. According to Fiat Chrysler Automobiles:

"The SUVs, assembled earlier this month, are being recalled because they may have been inadvertently equipped with improperly heat-treated suspension components. This condition, which was not apparent during the assembly process, could lead to component breakage, rear-end instability and/or reduced braking power."

Of the total number of vehicles recalled, 65 appear to be in the most danger. FCA is contacting the owners of those SUVS and advising them to stop driving the vehicles immediately.

The good news? The flawed components were installed during a very narrow, nine-day window earlier this month, from June 12 to June 20, 2015. As a result, many Grand Cherokees and Durangos affected by the recall are still on dealers' lots, and some haven't even reached dealerships. FCA says that all will be inspected and repaired, if necessary, before being sold or delivered to customers.
