2016 Dodge Challenger And Charger SRT Hellcat Production Being Boosted

Motor Authority

Unprecedented demand for the Dodge Challenger and Charger SRT Hellcat duo means Fiat Chrysler Automobiles [NYSE:FCAU] will need to double the cars’ current rate of production. Unfortunately, the increase in production won’t start until the switchover to 2016 model year examples this September, meaning current tight supplies of 2015 models will remain.

It also means that some existing orders for the 2015 Challenger and Charger SRT Hellcat will be canceled. FCA states it will fulfil currently scheduled orders for 2015 model year cars but customers with unscheduled orders will have to wait for 2016 examples. Those unlucky customers will receive a discount on their cars, though we bet missing out on the first year of production will still be a hard pill to swallow for fans.

And we hear that pricing on 2016 examples will rise; full pricing details should be released in the second week of August when order books open. Official pricing for the 2015 Challenger SRT Hellcat started at $59,995, while for the 2015 Charger SRT Hellcat the pricing started at $63,995. Both figures are after you added on destination and gas guzzler charges. Of course, steep premiums were common. FCA is hopeful the increase in production of the 2016 model will help make the buying process fairer.
