Fastest Factory Volvos in History Debut at Chicago Auto Show

Volvo says that the new 2014 S60 Polestar and 2015 V60 Polestar models that will be available this summer are the "quickest factory Volvos ever." If you want one, you'll need to be quick, too. The company plans to build just 120 units of the cars.

Polestar is Volvo's tuning partner, and for these very limited-production models it has started with T6 R-Design variants and massaged them to extract maximum capabilities. Structural upgrades, stiffer springs, high-performance shocks, and exclusive 20-inch aluminum wheels are key to handling upgrades, while bigger 4-wheel ventilated disc brakes feature Brembo 6-piston calipers in front.

Polestar also fits a new twin-scroll turbocharger to the 3.0-liter 6-cylinder engine, along with a new intercooler, freer-flowing exhaust system, and reworked engine management software. The result is 345 horsepower at 5,700 rpm and 369 lb.-ft. of torque starting at 2,800 rpm. Additionally, the 6-speed automatic transmission features new paddle shifters, and Polestar has developed the all-wheel-drive system to handle the extra power output. Volvo claims the S60 Polestar and V60 Polestar will accelerate to 60 mph in 4.7 seconds.
