MotoAmerica Series moves to Road America May 29-31

Yamaha-mounted Cameron Beaubier and Josh Hayes will take their battle for the top spot in MotoAmerica Superbike to Wisconsin’s Road America at Elkhart Lake May 29-31. They are once again teammates for Monster Energy Graves Yamaha.

Though Hayes has the number 1 plate on his bike as the reigning champ, he goes into the third round of the series trailing Beaubier in the points standings so far. Beaubier leads the division with 131 points to Hayes’ 115, though each has three victories so far, with Hayes having the hot hand at the Virginia round of the series coming away with double victories.

Hayes and Beaubier slugged it out last season as teammates taking the battle for the title in AMA Pro Superbike down to the season’s final event at the Kawasaki Devil's Showdown at New Jersey Motorsports Park by scoring his seventh victory in eleven races in 2014, for a career total of 48 victories to that point. That marked Hayes’ fourth title in the premier class.

Jake Lewis is third with 85 points, Roger Hayden (both Yoshimura Suzuki) who finished second overall in 2014 is in fourth place with 68 points and Bernat Martinez is a very close fifth with 67 points.

Jake Gagne (Roadrace Factory-Yamaha) leads the Superstock 1000 series with four victories and 100 points over second place Taylor Knapp (Sportbike Track Time Racing-Yamaha) who has one victory and 94 points. Tyler O'Hara is in third place with 90 points, Mark Heckles (Ryders Alley Racing-Yamaha) is in fourth with 84 and Dustin Dominguez (Aprilia HSBK Racing) rounds out the top five with 75 points.

The Supersport class may well be one of the most interesting to watch with a tight three-way battle for the lead between J.D. Beach (Yamalube/YES/Graves/Yamaha) with two victories and 102 points, Garrett Gerloff (Yamalube/YES/Graves/Yamaha) with one victory and 101 points and Josh Herrin (Wheels in Motion/MEEN/Yamaha) with a victory and 95 points. David Anthony (M4 SportbikeTrackGear.com Suzuki) lies in fourth with 66 points and Ben Young (Roadrace Factory-Yamaha) is in fifth with 48 points.
