The 2024 Mercedes-Benz EQB Tells More about How Far You Can Go

Mercedes-Benz is giving its battery-electric EQB crossover a light update for the 2024 model year. The most obvious change is the new front fascia, but that’s not the only good news making its way to prospective EQB buyers.

The ’24 EQB will also get some new tech to help better manage your battery’s range. Rounding out the major upgrades, the EQB also gets an updated MBUX media system.

While the ’24 EQB shares the same battery size as the current EQB, the upcoming battery-electric ‘Benz adds some tech to help you better manage battery consumption. Dubbed a range monitoring system, this tool works to, well, monitor your range.

When you trigger the system, options pop up on your infotainment screen to help you extend your useable range. Some of those options include more efficient map routes, driving speed suggestions, and using more efficient climate control settings.

That battery still powers a single front motor in EQB 250+ models that makes 188 hp. Stepping up to the EQB 300 4Matic all-wheel drive nets you a motor at both axles and cranks power up to 225 hp. Topping the range is still the EQB 350 4Matic, which also has two motors, but the output rises to 288 hp and 384 lb-ft of torque.

Official EPA range ratings aren’t available yet, but the WLPT figures for the AWD variants take a small dip compared to the current model. The figures show that the worst case scenario for the EQB 300 and EQB 350 would be 396 km (246 miles) per charge, which is down from the 419 km (260 miles) you’ll find currently.

Though, the best case scenario puts the ’24 AWD EQBs at 448 km (278 miles) per charge. Though, we’re sure the EPA will iron this out soon enough.

You’ll get to use that range monitoring system on the updated MBUX system. The ’24 EQB will run this updated MBUX system on the standard 10.25-inch digital touch screen, which runs Apple CarPlay and Android Auto. This updated MBUX system also now comes with two sound experiences, with two more available through the Mercedes Store.

Rounding out the upgrades for the ’24 EQB is at the front of this crossover’s exterior. On the 2024 EQB, you’ll see a new bumper cover. This new bumper cover follows the rest of the lineup’s styling direction.

While these aren’t major changes, you’ll get to see the updated EQB for yourself when it hits dealers in the first half of 2024.
