Alfa Romeo's Next Supercar Could Be Named 6C and Have the Giulia's 540-HP V-6

While speaking at the Chinese debut of the revised Stelvio and Giulia models, Alfa Romeo CEO Jean-Philippe Imparato announced that the brand will be unveiling its long-awaited supercar project later this summer.

Alfa Romeo first started teasing this project back at the end of 2022, with an Instagram clip that briefly highlighted the upcoming model’s taillight. The shape immediately caught the attention of fans, as the lights appear to be shaped after the number “6” and the letter “C”. Fans of the Alfa brand should be familiar with that nomenclature, as it found its way on the side of some of Alfa’s most exciting offerings. These include the dead gorgeous Alfa Romeo 8C, as well as the mid-engine, carbon-tubbed 4C. The 6C nameplate would be a natural fit for an upcoming supercar project, particularly when you look at the powertrains in Alfa’s current stable. The 8C and the 4C both featured engines with a cylinder count that matched their name. Considering Alfa’s current performance models utilize a twin-turbo 2.9-liter V6, it doesn’t take a huge leap to assume what’s coming down the pipeline. In the range-topping Giulia GTA, that motor is good for 540 horsepower and 442 lb-ft. While not outrageous levels of power by today’s standards, Alfa could surely fettle with the V-6 if more power is required by segment placement.

It is also important to note that Imparato previously confirmed this supercar project won’t be borrowing from other Stellantis properties. That’s all to say that this thing isn’t going to be a Maserati MC20 chassis with a different skin or powertrain. Alfa has also previously suggested the car could feature some retro design cues, perhaps borrowing from the beloved T33 Stradale from the late Sixties.

Imparato confirmed that the debut of the upcoming supercar project is slated to take place on August 30th. That just so happens to be the same weekend that Formula 1 will head to Monza for this year’s iteration of the Italian Grand Prix. The hometown race marks the perfect opportunity to show off such a project, especially as Alfa just celebrated its 113th anniversary last month. We can’t wait to see what the team at Alfa has in store for this next project, but we hope its as beautiful as its predecessors.
