Cars and Community at Comerica Park in Detroit

Kicking off the Detroit Concours weekend was Cars and Community. It was a blend of Radwood, a show just for cars from the 1980s to the 1990s, and Concours d'Lemons, a celebration of unusual and sometimes unloved classic cars. The event featured close to 200 cars. The vehicles on display were wide ranging from economy cars like a Ford Escort GT and Dodge Omni up to classic supercars including the Lamborghini Countach and Ferrari Testarossa. The event took place in downtown Detroit in the parking lot of Comerica Park.

JOEL STOCKSDALE: We're here at Detroit Cars and Community. It's a combination of RADwood and Concours d'Lemons. It's a celebration of '80s and '90s cars, and cars that have traditionally gone underappreciated and less than loved. We are located in front of Comerica Park, the baseball stadium in downtown Detroit, and this is the second time that RADwood has come to Detroit.

It's a little bit on a smaller scale, but there are still about 80 cars here and about 200 in total between the RADwood and Concours and other surrounding displays. And it's been a great sunny day here to see cool old cars.

Thanks for joining us on this quick look of the Detroit Cars and Community, the combination of RADwood Detroit and Concours d'Lemons. We're hoping that we'll see this event here next year and that it might be even bigger than the about 200 cars on display this time.
