Ferrari executives confirmed back in June 2022 that the brand’s next-generation hypercar project would be arriving soon. The car will represent the latest iteration of Ferrari’s range-topping models, arriving as the successor to the decade-old LaFerrari. While details about the project have remained well-protected, we now have our first look at the Ferrari prototype on the road.

The footage of the Ferrari hypercar prototype was captured by YouTuber Varryx. While we only have a short clip to work with, the video does a great job of highlighting a few important details about the car. The styling is incredibly aggressive for a modern Ferrari, with a ton of focus being placed on the aerodynamics. There are several vents and openings to channel air over and through the bodywork, which itself is reminiscent of the series production SF90 Stradale. The giant wing and diffuser combo out back is not something we’ve seen on a Ferrari road car in quite some time, but it does fit perfectly with the lineage of these range-topping Ferrari models.

Watch closely and you’ll also notice the high-voltage warning stickers placed all around the car, likely confirming that a hybrid system is tucked underneath the camo. While specific details about the powertrain remain hushed, chances are some form of hybridized V-8 will be sitting behind the driver. A graphic shared during that June 2022 announcement even suggests that the engine will be borrowed directly from the SF90, albeit with some additional performance. Not that the V-8’s 986 horsepower output is something to laugh at. Ferrari itself has also previously said that the V-12 won’t be paired with a hybrid system moving forward. It is worth noting that the 288 GTO and F40 both utilized turbocharged V-8s in the early days of this model lineage, but V-12s have been part of the recipe since the F50 arrived in 1995.

Ferrari has yet to publicly share a timeline on when this hypercar will arrive. That said, the team over at Motor1 got their hands on some internal documents back in 2022 which suggest the car will make its debut in October 2024. Furthermore, a hardcore XX variant of the hypercar is reportedly slated to join the fray in the fall of 2026. The documents further suggest that only 599 road cars and 30 track cars are to be built. An open-top Aperta variant was also listed for a 2027 debut, with production limited to 199 units.
