It’s cold and quiet across the United States. Most racing sanctioning bodies are deep into their respective off-seasons, which means there’s no better time than the present to jump into the world of make-believe. Sure, NASCAR’s Clash at the Coliseum is only a couple of months away, but we’re celebrating 75 years of NASCAR racing right now. Starting up this offseason fun, we remind you of a modern classic.

Talladega Nights: The Ballad of Ricky Bobby is a hilarious, absurd look at the stardom surrounding successful stock car drivers. Starring Will Ferrell as Ricky Bobby, John C. Reilly as his teammate and friend Cal Naughton Jr., and Sacha Baron Cohen as the hotshot former Formula 1 driver, this all-star comedy cast lovingly lampoons the world of top-level stock car racing.

Of course, Talladega Nights isn’t Hollywood’s only foray into stock car racing, but it might be the best. This 108-minute adventure into NASCAR that was released in 2006 touches on some of the sport’s legends and shows where it stands on the greater podium of motorsport. But most of all, it’s ridiculous fun.

Finding a DVD or Blu-Ray copy of Talladega Nights is probably as easy as knocking the dust off your DVD collection. If you don’t own a copy, this Adam McKay movie is currently streaming for free on Prime Video. For even more fun, Ferrell and Reilly appeared on the Larry King show, in character, to promote the film while NASCAR legends called in. Even though it’s not part of the movie, it makes Talladega Nights even better.
