Sebastien Ogier retired from full-time WRC competition at the end of the 2021 season, calling time on a career with eight championships in part to pursue a future in sports cars. Sebastien Loeb made a similar choice all the way back in 2012, after winning nine WRC championships. Last year, Loeb led the pair to a 1-2 finish in the season opening Rallye Monte Carlo as a part-timer to tie Ogier for the all-time lead in wins at the century-old rally. This year, with Loeb busy with rally raid scheduling conflicts, Ogier returned the favor.

Ogier led wire to wire for Toyota, getting out to a massive lead on Friday and holding on for an eventual 18 second victory over 2022 WRC champion and Toyota teammate Kalle Rovanperä. While the win is Ogier's 56th at the WRC level, it is the first for his co-driver, Vincent Landais.
