Welcome to a new Lotus. The Eletre is the storied automaker's first electric SUV—its first SUV, for that matter—and it aims to offer high-class accommodations and a heapin' helpin' of EV performance. Two electric motors combine to produce 603 horsepower on the base model and Eletre S, with the output rising to 905 horses in the Eletre R.
The Lotus Eletre's base and S trims rely on two electric motors, one on each axle.
Combined, these two motors produce 603 horsepower and 523 pound-feet of torque.
Lotus claims the 603-hp powertrain configuration will be good for a 62-mph sprint in 4.5 seconds.
If that's not enough oomph, the Eletre R adds a beefier rear motor, raising output to 905 horsepower and 726 pound-feet of torque.
Lotus claims the Eletre R will reach 62 mph in under three seconds and top out at 165 mph.
The base and S trims will utilize a direct-drive transmission at each axle, while the Eletre R utilizes a two-speed gearbox on the rear axle.
Underneath the Eletre's body is a lithium-ion battery pack with a usable capacity of 109.0 kWh.
The Eletre's two lower trims have a European WLTP range estimate of 373 miles, lowering to 304 miles on the Eletre R.
Certain Eletre models can tow up to 4960 pounds, so long as the trailer has its own brakes.
