The redesigned Mercedes E-class enters a new generation with a shapelier design and more technology while staying true to its traditional luxury mission.
The 2024 Mercedes-Benz E-class will initially launch in the U.S. with two familiar models: the E350 4Matic and the E450 4Matic (pictured here).
While the E350 model features a 255-hp turbocharged 2.0-liter four, the E450 is powered by an impressively smooth turbocharged 3.0-liter inline-six that makes 375 horsepower—a 13-hp increase over the outgoing version.
Both the E350 4Matic and the E450 4Matic come standard with all-wheel drive and a nine-speed automatic transmission.
Also standard is a 48-volt hybrid system that can contribute up to 22 horsepower and 148 pound-feet of torque to fill gaps in the engine's powerband.
Though it's more aerodynamically styled than before, the redesigned E-class retains a classic three-box shape, which lends it traditional luxury-sedan proportions and generous rear-seat headroom.
LED taillight elements illuminate in the shape of the three-point Mercedes star.
An illuminated grille surround is optional.
With its slightly larger proportions and softer design, the new E-class could be mistaken for a larger S-class model.
The E-class's highlight is a new Superscreen interface that integrates the 12.3-inch instrument cluster, the 14.4-inch touchscreen, and an optional 12.3-inch passenger display.
Ambient lighting abounds inside the new E-class and can pulse to the rhythm of music played through the standard Burmester audio system.
