The VW ID. Aero Shows Sedans Have a Place

• The pre-production VW ID. Aero is set to debut on June 27.

• The VW ID. Aero will ride on Volkswagen’s MEB platform, which currently underpins the electric Volkswagens.

• VW says the production version of the ID. Aero will hit the Chinese market the second half of 2023, with European and North American models debuting sometime that year.

Sedans might be dying in the United States, but other markets seem to enjoy such conventional, three-box shapes. Hoping to capitalize on the higher-end sedan market in China, Volkswagen is planning on rolling out a battery-electric sedan on its modular electric platform under the ID. Aero name.
