How a 1959 Mercury Led This NSX to its New Owners

From Road & Track

Buying your first collector's car is a big deal. Or, at least, it seems like a big deal at the time.

"We thought it was going to be a really big deal, really difficult to buy an old collector car," Scott King said. "And after we bought it, it really wasn't that big a deal and so it was like, maybe we should buy another one?"

So that's what King and Sandy Edelstein did. Their first car was a 1959 Mercury Park Lane-a giant boat of a car that stops traffic everywhere it goes. But for their next car, they wanted something a little different. And as they filled out their collection, their changing interests led to them buying all sorts of cars. Some are big luxury cars like a Cadillac Seville, but a lot of their more recent purchases are drivers' cars. Now, that includes an original Acura NSX.

While it might initially seem odd for someone to own both a Park Lane and an NSX, King and Edelstein believe that it's important to experience as much of car culture as they can.

"It's really cool to be able to get out of a 59 Mercury and get into a Acura NSX and then get into a Cadillac Seville and then get into a Mercury Bobcat and then get into an Alfa Romeo. It's really wonderful to experience the full breadth of automotive cuisine," says Edelstein.
