Yahoo Autos 1967 Ford GT40 Provides Historic Racing Access

Thanks in part to the release of Ford v Ferrari, it seems like everyone these days knows about the 1966 24 Hours of Le Mans when three Ford GT40s crossed the finish line virtually together. That race will always be held in high regard by the Ford faithful, so when an original GT40 is for sale it always causes a stir.
A rare 1967 Chevy COPO Corvette will cross the auction block soon.
This particular car is one of only 31 Mark 1s built, so it’s part of an elite club. Dressed for success in Opalescent Silver Blue over black and rolling on Borrani wire wheels, this car originally was built for the Promotion and Disposal Program, with delivery set to Shelby American. However, fate had a different plan.
Instead, the car was delivered to Scuderia Fillipinetti in Switzerland and was proudly displayed at the Geneva Salon Auto in 1967 with a Metallic Borneo Green exterior. It seems after that the car was part of a custody battle until it was sent to the UK in early 1968.
From there it was featured in automotive magazines, advertisements, and performed its predestined press duties. It also made the rounds to car shows, including the Geneva Auto Salon, was part of press events, and in general lived in the limelight. All this and more is documented and ready to be presented to bidders as well as the future owner.
A full and well-documented restoration was later performed, which is why the GT40 looks so fantastic. This car has taken part in different historic racing events and has been displayed at some of the most prestigious shows.
Mounted mid-ship where it’s easy to view is a 289 small block V8 with Weber carburetors. You’ll note the interior is as it was originally was in the late ‘60s, adding to its authenticity.
