In its day, the third-generation Toyota Corolla wasn't a particularly interesting car. Sure, we now see it as a cool rear-wheel drive coupe, but then, it was simply an economy car. And not even a particularly interesting one at that. But in time, this old Corolla has taken on a different character in spite of its humble roots.

Petrolicious profiles Frenchman Romain Saraiva and his 1975 Corolla KE35, which he restored beautifully with his family. In restoration, this simple car takes on a whole new meaning for Saraiva and everyone else who experiences it. For Saraiva, this Corolla is no longer basic, mass-produced transportation–it's a family heirloom.

This video is a good reminder that there's more value in restoring a car than just preserving automotive history. You can take real ownership of this car, and forever be part of its story. And that goes for all classic cars, whether it's a Ferrari 250 Short Wheelbase, or a little old Toyota.
