2014 Volkswagen Jetta GLI Edition 30 Celebrates Three Decades of Affordable Sport Sedans

Thirty years ago, Volkswagen introduced the first Jetta GLI to the U.S. market, an affordable German sports sedan that enthusiasts immediately embraced. Today, the same recipe that made the original Jetta GLI a hit with critics and drivers looking to add a little fahrvergnugen to their lives is used for the 2014 VW Jetta GLI. Take one 4-door sedan, install Volkswagen GTI running gear, spruce up the cabin, and you've got one fun little family car.

To commemorate the model's 30th anniversary, Volkswagen has debuted the 2014 Jetta GLI Edition 30, a special version of one of the best-kept secrets on the market. The new GLI Edition 30 goes on sale early in 2014 and will be the only version of the GLI available until the 2015 model year.

Standard equipment includes 18-inch aluminum wheels in a new "Laguna" design, red grille trim, and a subtle decklid spoiler. Inside, leatherette upholstery is standard, along with red contrast accents. Red stitching is used throughout the cabin, and the new GLI Edition 30 is equipped with carbon-style trim, special kickplates, and red-stitched floor mats.

In addition to standard features, the Edition 30 with Navigation model includes a touch-screen navigation system, reversing camera, and keyless passive entry with push-button starting. Additional upgrades include LED running lights, bi-xenon headlights, and an adaptive front-lighting system.

Prices have not been announced, but the new Jetta GLI Edition 30 will be offered in black, white, red, and silver paint colors when it arrives in showrooms.
