2015 Chrysler 200, Jeep Renegade; 2014-2015 Jeep Cherokee recalled: 410,000 vehicles affected

Fiat Chrysler Automobiles plans to recall a range of Chrysler, Jeep, and Ram models to address a problem with their electrical systems that could cause vehicles to lose propulsion or stall. According to Auto News, the issue stems from problems with the vehicles' wiring and software.

The good news is, FCA says that it knows of no crashes or injuries related to the problem.

The bad news--at least for Americans--is that the recall will affect roughly 410,000 vehicles, most of which are registered in the U.S.

The list of FCA models affected includes:

  • 2015 Chrysler 200

  • 2014-2015 Jeep Cherokee

  • 2015 Jeep Renegade

  • 2015 Ram ProMaster City

Approximately 323,000 vehicles affected by the recall are registered in the U.S. Another 35,500 are registered in Canada, with the remaining 51,000 registered in other parts of the globe.

FCA will mail recall notices to owners, asking them to take their vehicles to dealerships for service. Dealers will replace wiring harnesses and update the vehicles' software at no charge.

If you own one of these vehicles and have questions, you're encouraged to call Chrysler customer care at 800-334-9200, Jeep customer care at 877-426-5337, or Ram customer care at 866-726-4636.

Fiat Chrysler Automobiles said it is recalling nearly 410,000 vehicles worldwide because of a defect that can lead to a loss of propulsion.

The automaker said on Friday it will update software and replace wire harnesses to address the electronic issue that appears in a small number of vehicles. The recall includes 2015 model Chrysler 200 midsize sedans, Ram ProMaster City small vans, Jeep Renegade and Cherokee SUVs and some 2014 Cherokees.

The recall includes about 323,000 vehicles in the U.S., 35,500 in Canada and about 51,000 elsewhere.

Fiat Chrysler said there were no reports of injuries or crashes related to the defect. The automaker did not disclose a schedule for when recall repairs will begin.

The automaker said if owners suffer a loss of propulsion, the issue can typically be temporarily resolved by stopping the vehicle and re-starting the engine.
