2015 Hyundai Genesis recalled to fix glitchy instrument cluster
Hyundai is recalling over 3,000 Genesis sedans from the 2015 model year to fix a software problem that could pose a safety risk.
The National Highway Traffic Safety Administration says that the software glitch affects the Genesis' LCD instrument cluster, which was supplied by Continental Automotive. The faulty code can cause trouble for drivers in a number of ways, including:
- Display of inaccurate speedometer and tachometer info
- Illumination of all warning lights
- Complete lack of illumination on the instrument cluster
- A temporarily inoperative cluster
- Turn signal indicators not lighting up when the turn signal is activated

At the very least, those events could prove distracting for drivers. At the worst, they could cause the driver to miss an important alert, which could lead to a crash.
The recall affects 2015 Hyundai Genesis sedans built between February 1, 2015 and May 20, 2015. A total of 3,031 vehicles registered in the U.S. are affected.
Hyundai will mail recall notices to owners by September 30, asking them to take their vehicles to their local Hyundai dealerships. Dealers will update the instrument cluster software at no charge.
