2015 Mercedes-Benz C-Class Wagon Revealed

Mercedes-Benz has revealed the first details for its 2015 C-Class Estate (C-Class Wagon if ever makes it to the U.S.), which has just entered production at the C-Class main factory in Bremen, Germany. Though it’s yet to be confirmed, Mercedes is unlikely to offer its new C-Class wagon in the U.S., despite close rival BMW offering up a 3-Series Sports Wagon and Audi offering an A4 All road over here.

Mercedes does offer an E-Class Wagon locally, but low sales of luxury wagons make it hard to justify launching a second wagon. Buyers here tend to flock to crossovers and SUVs, which Mercedes has plenty of. That’s a shame, because the latest C-Class wagon looks to be absolutely stunning. It should also be a superb drive, based on our time behind the wheel of the 2015 C-Class sedan.

The platform for the 2015 C-Class range is Mercedes' latest MRA design, but the wagon rides on a stretched version that’s common to the long-wheelbase C-Class sold in China. The C-Class wagon is about 3.7 inches longer overall than the regular C-Class, and its wheelbase is about 3.1 inches longer. Storage space in the rear is about 17 cubic feet, expanding to 53 cubic feet with the rear seats folded.

Like the C-Class sedan, this wagon variant will offer up a range of engines spanning four-, six- and even eight-cylinder units, the latter reserved for a high-performance C63 AMG variant. A plug-in hybrid model is also expected. The model pictured is the C200 BlueTec diesel.
