2016 Toyota Prius recalled for airbag problem
Toyota is recalling approximately 7,600 Toyota Prius vehicles in the U.S., all of which were made for the 2016 model year. According to the automaker, the airbags assemblies on some off those vehicles may have been improperly manufactured, and as a result, the airbags may not deploy properly during collisions.
Toyota says that the problem affects the Prius' front passenger airbag, which makes use of compressed gas that's stored in the airbag inflator. Unfortunately, a portion of the airbag assembly may not have been built to the proper specifications, which may allow the gas to seep out over time.

If that happens, Toyota notes that the airbag will still deploy during a crash, but it may only partially inflate. That would boost the risk of injury to passengers.
Toyota also notes that the problem may be most likely to occur in vehicles that remain parked for long periods of time.
Toyota will mail recall notices to owners in November, asking them to take their vehicles to dealerships for service. Dealers will replace the front passenger airbag assembly at no charge.
