The 2017 Mazda MX-5 RF Miata Starts at $31,555

From Road & Track

Our man Sam Smith spent this past weekend at Miatas at Mazda Raceway, a two-day celebration of the beloved roadster at Mazda Raceway Laguna Seca. There, Mazda revealed to the public the final bit of information on the latest Miata, the MX-5 RF hardtop. Here's exactly what you'll pay for the fastback Miata.

The RF lineup starts with the Club spec, priced at $31,555 with a six-speed stick, $32,285 with the six-speed automatic. As with the convertible, the highly-recommended Brembo brake upgrade and BBS wheels are a $3400 option.

Next in line is the GT trim. With a six-speed stick, this line costs $32,620, or $33,825 with automatic.

At the top of the RF lineup is the Launch Edition, available solely in the handsome Machine Grey hue shown above and with all the luxury amenities included in GT trim, along with special Launch Edition badging, exclusive Nappa leather, and a hand-painted black targa roof panel. Manual-transmission examples start at $33,850; automatics sticker at $34,925. A destination charge of $835 applies to all Miata models.

Oh, and ordering on the Launch Edition opens up today. If you want the very first RF on your block, head over to Mazda's website and plunk down a $500 deposit. Only 1000 Launch Editions will come to the U.S., and Mazda superfans have already been able to submit orders for a few days, so you better hurry.

Deliveries of the MX-5 RF Launch Edition will begin in February of 2017, with standard-issue targas to follow.
