Yahoo Autos 2017 Porsche 911 GTS: Here It Is
The GTS always tends to be the happiest medium of the 911 lineup. It's not as hardcore as a GT3 but more purposeful than the base Carrera. It's our perfect roadgoing 911.
And now, with the introduction of the refreshed 991.2 generation Carrera with its turbo 3.0 flat-six, we have a new 911 GTS. As you'd expect, it's fairly similar to the last GTS.
The new GTS gets the turbo engine, but now has 450 horsepower and 405 lb-ft of torque. That's a gain of 20 horsepower over the last GTS and 30 more than the last GTS. Thankfully, it still comes standard with a seven-speed manual with PDK as an option. The coupe also includes PASM Sport which lowers the car 10 millimeters compared to the regular PASM suspension.
That adds up to a car that is slightly quicker and handles slightly better. The C2 GTS coupe with PDK takes 3.4 seconds to hit 60, and the coupe with a manual has a top speed of 193 mph.
It also has a bunch of little appearance options. They all have the body of the Carrera 4, which is slightly wider than the C2, a new SportDesign front end, center-lock wheels, dark accents, and other small tweaks to make it look sportier and more menacing.
Guess what? They're already for sale and will hit dealers in April. Pricing starts at $119,000 for the Carrera GTS Coupe and goes all the way up to $138,200 for the Targa 4 GTS.
