In spite of its high-performance intentions and extroverted styling, the Chevrolet Camaro's color selection has been relatively tame-until now. A new color called Shock is joining the 2019 Camaro lineup starting early next year, and it's an extreme sort of yellow that we've only ever seen before on exotics (at least in terms of factory colors). Its closest analogue, in fact, is perhaps the Lime Essence paint available on the Aston Martin Vantage.

Shock is being previewed at this year's SEMA show in Las Vegas with the slightly concept-ized Camaro you see here, which is festooned with all sorts of dealer-installed accessories and performance parts. Essentially a production car with a slightly tweaked front end, this Camaro SS Shock concept has a relocated bow-tie emblem and extra graphics on the hood and fenders. Extras such as its black rear spoiler, carbon-fiber-trimmed fuel door, black badges, cold-air intake, Recaro seats, upgraded front brakes, and suspension parts from the 1LE package are all available for customers as accessories and performance parts that can be ordered online or from a Chevrolet dealer.

Chevrolet says that production Camaros finished in Shock will be available starting early in 2019. It's likely to be an extra-cost color like the red and orange options, which currently cost $395. Chevrolet isn't saying yet which Camaro models will be offered with this eye-searing color option. All 2019 Camaros received a refresh earlier this year that brought new styling and new performance packages such as the 1LE Turbo variant, which adds handling upgrades to the base turbocharged 2.0-liter four-cylinder model.

Curiously, this wild hue is also available elsewhere in the Chevrolet lineup-and probably not where you'd expect. Shock is already available as a $395 option on Chevy's all-electric hatchback, the 2019 Chevrolet Bolt EV. Who knows where it's going to show up next?
