  • The all-new 2020 Land Rover Defender was spotted on the set of the next James Bond movie, based on this photo posted to Instagram and initially picked up by Jalopnik.

  • This is the first image of the legendary Land Rover without any camouflage, but it aligns with official photos of the 2020 Defender testing that we've seen.

  • The Defender is expected to make its debut later this year, and the upcoming Bond film—No Time To Die—will hit U.S. theaters on April 8, 2020.

The hotly anticipated and long-awaited 2020 Land Rover Defender was unceremoniously revealed to the world after a photo of one not wearing any camouflage made its rounds on the interwebs.

The image posted on Instagram by shedlocktwothousand, hashtagged #Defender2020, shows the front-three-quarter view of a blacked-out and mud-spattered Defender that's said to be on the set of the upcoming James Bond film. While this is the first time we've seen one not wrapped in detail-obscuring camo, its tall greenhouse and overall boxiness perfectly align with the prototype photos that Land Rover has already officially revealed.

Since the undisguised Defender in the Instagram picture looks very close to production-ready, save for the grille-mounted winch, we very likely have a good idea of what the face of the all-new model will look like. Its squared-off half-moon headlights are a modern take on historic Defender models, and the checkered plates on the sides of the hood recall other retro details.

There's not much else we can glean from the Instagram photo, but a keen eye can spot the Defender's trademark high-mounted rear glass, known as alpine windows. We've also seen an unofficial image of the all-new Defender's production dashboard. It showed multiple digital displays, physical knobs for the climate controls, an electronic shifter, and touch-sensitive buttons on the steering wheel.

We also look forward to seeing the legendary Land Rover potentially trading paint and gunfire in the upcoming Bond film, No Time to Die, when it hits U.S. theaters on April 8, 2020.
