Battery-electric cars give automakers an opportunity to reset their entire lineups, perspectives, and standards. This powertrain reset is giving every automaker a chance to attend a new school and make new friends and customers. Kia has come a long way from its bargain-basement Sephia days, and now the Korean automaker is laying a new foundation with a lineup of EVs intended to redefine the Kia experience. The well-received EV6 is available in single- and dual-motor layouts, which subsequently translates to rear- or all-wheel drive. The single-motor EV6 sends 167 hp and 258 lb-ft of torque to the rear wheels, whereas the all-wheel-drive variant sends 320 hp combined to the pavement and 446 lb-ft of torque.

On this episode of Quick Spin, Autoweek Executive Editor Tom Murphy hops behind the wheel of a 2022 Kia EV6 and puts it through its paces. He shows you around Kia's latest EV and highlights its features, both inside and out, before taking you along for a live drive review. Adding to the conversation, host Wesley Wren chats with Murphy about the growing EV space, the EV6’s competition and where this Kia sits in the sales charts. Closing the show, the two break down what makes this Kia special.
