2022 Mercedes-Benz C-Class Shows Off Its New Look

From Car and Driver

  • This is the next-generation Mercedes-Benz C-class sedan, spied with minimal camouflage.

  • It has similar design cues as the S-class flagship sedan, which was also recently redesigned.

  • We expect the new C-class to arrive in the U.S. in mid-2021 as a 2022 model.

Mercedes-Benz is getting ready to reveal the new C-class, but our spy photographers got an early glimpse. This prototype for the new C sedan has minimal disguise, giving us a good look at the new model's styling. We expect this new version to wear a W206 designation, although its overall design is evolutionary enough that we wouldn't blame you for mistaking it for a facelifted W205 model.

The new C-class will ride on an updated version of its predecessor's rear-wheel-drive platform, and all-wheel drive will once again be an option. The hood appears a bit lower, and the front end will adopt the newest Benz grille design seen on the new S-class and updated E-class sedans.

The rear end appears to feature slimmer, more modern-looking taillights with a sort of teardrop shape. We've heard that the new C-class will provide more trunk space than before; it's hard to tell size from these photos, but we wouldn't be surprised if the new model grows by a few inches.
