The 2022 Toyota GR 86 Is Cheaper than the Subaru BRZ
The 2022 Toyota GR 86 is one of the most exciting sports cars yet to hit dealerships, thanks in no small part to the car's new 2.4-liter four-cylinder engine. Toyota has just revealed the pricing for the second-generation 86 and it might only get fans more pumped. That is because the revised 86 will carry a base price of just $27,700. For those keeping score at home, that is $295 cheaper than its Subaru-branded counterpart.
The revised sports car is slated to be offered in both GR 86 and GR 86 Premium trim levels. The base price represents a GR 86 model with the six-speed manual gearbox, while a six-speed automatic brings the MSRP up to $29,200. Regardless of which gearbox you choose, the base GR 86 isn't devoid of proper sports car hardware. That larger 2.4-liter engine delivers 228 hp and 184 lb-ft of torque, gains of nearly 18 percent and 11 percent respectively over the outgoing model. A Torsen limited-slip differential is also included, working alongside a MacPherson front strut and multi-link rear suspension system.
